May is a busy month for birds and bird watchers alike.
Resident birds such as the Anna’s Hummingbird, Black-capped Chickadee, and Bushtit are busy raising chicks. Many migratory birds, such as warblers, Western Tanagers and Bullock’s Orioles are just arriving, or passing through on their way to nesting grounds farther north. That creates quite a bit of activity and makes May an exciting time for bird lovers. Not only can you enjoy the show in your backyard but you can also join one of the many events commenorating May's feathered fiesta.
