What's Happening in Your Backyard

New Book by Local Author James L. Davis on Friday, March 20, 2009

James Davis, one of our local treasures, has a new book about where to go and what to see, month by month, in Oregon, Washington and B.C.

The Northwest Nature Guide: Where to Go and What to See Month by Month in Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia by James L. Davis tells you how, when and where to find the most spectacular plants and animals of our region.

James works a naturalist with Metro Regional Parks and Greenspaces.  Before that, he was the Education Director at Audubon Society of Portland.  He grew up chasing lizards in the Sonoran Desert, later earning a master’s degree in zoology from Colorado State University. He taught at Marylhurst University where he helped start the Head Start Summer Science Institute.

You may have had the pleasure of accompanying him on a bird walk or nature outing, and enjoyed his trademark enthusiasm and humor.  James covers subjects as varied as bird migration and how to identify a swimming rodent, and the book includes detailed maps & stunning color photography.  We have signed first edition copies available.
